Membership

Our members share a common passion for promoting media freedom and quality journalism in Ethiopia. By becoming a member of the Guild, you can benefit from our professional development and educational opportunities, resources and tools to succeed in your career and niche in the media. We are proud to be able to offer our members regular guidance, support, and resources, and we invite you to join us in our mission of creating a better media environment and to help empower the gatekeepers of media houses in Ethiopia.

At Editors Guild of Ethiopia, two types of membership status are available; Regular Member and Honorary Member.

If you are currently a media worker in Ethiopia holding an editorial position (Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Assignment Editor, Producer and Associate Producer), you are invited to apply and join the Guild as a Regular Member.

If you have a background in an editorial position (Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Assignment Editor, Producer and Associate Producer) and either retired or currently not in the media sector, an Honorary Membership status is open for you.

Membership requests are approved by the General Assembly of the Guild, which convenes annually. Once you are approved to hold a membership status, you will be required to pay annual membership fee according to the Memorandum of Association of the Guild and be part of us.
